voluntary starvation for medical treatment

I paid a visit to a doctor yesterday. He said I needed to have a examination to check if I had GU(Gastric Ulcer) or not. I didn't expect that the examination would be FORMIDABLE. I went to the hospital with happiness(?) but went home shivering. "How can doctors come up with this horrible idea?"I thought. The examination uses a long tube with red, green, and blue light on the one side sticking into patient's gullet through their throat. The tube is roughly 50 cm in length and 1 cm in width. Imagine a tube is stuck in your throat for ten minutes. How gross it is!

In order to ensure the examination would be successful, patients are required to starve for 6 to 8 hours before the examination is administered. I was hungry therefore. I ate a lot of food as soon as I arrived home.

The examination must be the most terrible examination. I dare say the college entrance examination is much less FORMIDABLE!
